Denmark has a graduated taxation system. The more you earn, the higher taxes you pay, and you make certain deductions in your income before your tax is calculated.

If you are in Denmark as a spouse and is unemployed, your partner can use your personal allowance. Call foreign SKAT at Tel. +45 72 22 28 92 to have your Tax card made.

If you are working as foreign Scientist or Researcher or as a Key Employee with a minimum salary at 70.600 DKK per month/831.600 DKK per year, you can apply for tax reduction as foreign Scientist/Researchers or Highly-paid employee. Read more here.

Each year in November SKAT generates a preliminary income assessment for you to review. The figures in your preliminary income assessment determine how much tax you have to pay during the year and allow you to make changes.

Each year in March SKAT generates a tax assessment notice that tells you the status of your tax payment for the previous year. If you paid too many taxes, you will be reimbursed. If you paid too little, you will be required to pay the outstanding amount.

You can access your tax assessments via SKAT.dk using MitID.
