As a parent, you can apply for a subsidy for private care.
The size of the subsidy depends on:
- Your monthly childcare expenses
- The number of hours for care
You can receive a maximum subsidy of 75% of your expenses, but there is also a cap on the maximum subsidy.
Subsidy rates for 2023:
- 6.621 DKK for children aged 26 weeks to 2 years
- 3.794 DKK for children aged 3 years to school start
Subsidy rates for 2022:
- 5.989 DKK for children aged 26 weeks to 2 years
- 3.608 DKK for children aged 3 years to school start
The childcare subsidy is based on full-time care, meaning 40 hours or more per week. A reduced subsidy is provided for part-time care.
Before you can receive the subsidy, the following conditions must be met:
- You must be a resident of Esbjerg municipality.
- You must enter into a care agreement with a childminder, whom you find yourself, and the care agreement and the person who will care for the child must be approved by Esbjerg municipality.
- You must not receive full-time parental leave benefits or leave allowance for childcare for the child for whom you are seeking a subsidy.
