An economic free place subsidy reduces your payment for the place completely or partially. Generally, the lower the income, the more economic free place subsidy you are entitled to.
You can only get an economic free place subsidy if the household income is below the income thresholds set in the free place scale.
Income thresholds for 2023:
- Below 193.501 DKK Y
Your payment is 0 DKK per month
- Between 193.501 and 197.792 DKK
Your payment is 5% of the rate.
- Between 193.501 and 601.199 DKK
The subsidy is reduced by 1 percentage point each time your income rises by 4.292 DKK.
- 583.700 DKK or above
You cannot be granted an economic free place subsidy.
Income thresholds for 2022:
- Below 187.901 DKK
Your payment is 0 DKK per month.
- Between 187.901 and 192.066 DKK
Your payment is 5% of the rate.
- Between 187.901 and 583.699 DKK
The subsidy is reduced by 1 percentage point each time your income rises by 4.166 DKK
- 601.200 DKK or above
You cannot be granted an economic free place subsidy.

The income limits are increased by 67.719 DKK.
Several living at home children under 18?
The income limits are increased by DKK 7.000 for each child beyond the first.
