We use the national dyslexia test, which can be administered from March in 3rd grade. Testing can take place every year from March to June in grades 3 to 9. In 10th grade, testing can occur year-round.

A literacy resource person at your child's school will conduct the test with your child. After the test, you will receive a report with your child's results. Your child will be placed in one of these categories:

1. Not dyslexic (green category): Your child's phonological skills are on par with their grade level.
2. Uncertain phonological decoding (yellow category): Your child has some phonological difficulties, but not to the extent seen among dyslexic students at their grade level.
3. Dyslexic (red category): Your child has phonological difficulties of a magnitude seen among dyslexic students at their grade level.

If your child is tested as dyslexic, your child's school can assist you in contacting a dyslexia advisor. You can also contact the Pedagogical Unit through the contact box on this page.

If your child is diagnosed with dyslexia, the school will inform you about the option to be part of the support function. The support function includes a dyslexia advisor who works in your child's school district.

The dyslexia advisor offers courses for your child focusing on reading strategies and assistive technology. They also provide parent courses where you can meet other parents and receive assistance in supporting your child. The dyslexia advisor also offers guidance and advice to your child's teachers in all subjects.

6th to 9th grade:
Dyslexic students, along with their parents, can apply for enrollment in a profile class for dyslexic students at Spangsbjerg School. There is a maximum of 16 students per class.

10th grade:
Through the Youth School (Ungdomsskolen), it is also possible for students diagnosed with dyslexia to take 10th grade in profile classes for dyslexic students at Studie10 Esbjerg and Bramming.
