From your child's 26th week until their start of school, you have the opportunity to receive a subsidy if you take care of your own child.
The following conditions must be met for you to receive the subsidy:
- You must not receive public transfer income or have work income during the period you receive the subsidy.
- You must be able to document your Danish language skills by showing that you have, for example, passed the 9th-grade exam in Danish with a grade of at least 2, passed "Prøve i Dansk 2" or equivalent.
- You must have resided in Denmark for 7 out of the last 8 years. Stay in Greenland and the Faroe Islands is considered equivalent to residence in Denmark.
- You must have a NemKonto to receive the subsidy.
- The requirements for sufficient Danish language skills and residence do not apply to EU/EEA citizens to the extent that they are entitled to the benefit under EU law.
- Children cared for under the scheme are not covered by the rules on sibling subsidies and economic free-place subsidies.
