Vester Vedsted and Sønder Farup are two country villages located nearby each other.

The villages, situated in a marsh area and surrounded by the Wadden Sea, are bordered by a dike on one side and forest plantations on the other. Vester Vedsted experiences its fair share of visitors due to the Wadden Sea Center and its position as the base for bus and car tours to the island of Mandø.

In both Vester Vedsted and Sønder Farup, you will find many well-preserved farmsteads and farmhouses in the traditional west Jutlandian building style. The two hamlets have large green areas, and the old farmhouses and small country lanes give the area an idyllic character and country town atmosphere.

The many recreation areas around the villages provide great opportunities for fresh, outdoor living. In the newer part of the village of Vester Vedsted and north of the Vester Vedsted Creek, which runs through the village, you will find single-family homes where many young families live.

Community spirit

Vester Vedsted and Sønder Farup have a combined community, which revolves primarily around nature and outdoor activities. The community hall functions as the area’s main meeting point and there is an active country town association with many shared events, including community feasts. Furthermore, there is strong community support around the village’s scouts and gymnastics associations.
 
In Vester Vedsted and Sønder Farup, many family activities are on offer, as well as outdoor pursuits. There are a number of residents in the area with Icelandic horses, and there are good options for stabling and riding.

Esbjerg Municipality is divided into seven school districts and a district named city of children. Children in Vester Vedsted belongs to Vadehavsskolen and often attend the school in Egebæk-Hviding from grade 0-6 and continue at Vadehavsskolen in Ribe from grade 7 to 9. There is a school bus service to Ribe.
