Tjæreborg is the fourth largest town in Esbjerg Municipality. The city is close to the sea, fields and forest, and the old gravel pits have been converted into recreational areas close to the city. Several cycle routes lead through the city.
It only takes aprox. 3 min to reach the motorway from Tjæreborg.
Many families live in Tjæreborg, which have an active associational life and community around sports and leisure activities such as hunting.
A lot of the community spirit stems from the Sports and Culture Centre and the outdoors multi track that sets the frame for the sport and common activities in the town. A mountain bike track has been established in the old gravel pits north of the city.
In the old church, which dates from the 12th century, and in the Parish Hall nearby, many activities and events also take place throughout the year. Tjæreborg has an annual sports fair, which includes football and soft ball tournaments and a musical event.
Esbjerg Municipality is divided into seven school districts and a district named city of children. Children in Tjæreborg belongs to Signatur school.

Børnehusene Tjæreborg, with the department Energien at Eilif Krogagers Vej (childcare and kindergarten for smaller children) and the department Dynamikken at Jens Kusks vej (kindergarten for bigger children) and several daycares.
Infrastructure
Trains depart to Esbjerg, Ribe and Bramming. There is bus service to Esbjerg and the surrounding towns and villages.
