Life by the beach

Hjerting is located out of the city by Ho Bay, and is bordered by beach, forest and meadow. There are many newly builded homes and constructions in the area, as well as continual expansion of the suburb.

In Hjerting you can find attractive residential areas near the water, family-friendly villa areas with child-friendly streets, and areas with attractive row housing and rental properties.

Community spirit

Hjerting is characterized as an area with many visitors and there is a rich association life with many spare time activities. There is an active community in the area with a community festival, Fastelavn festival and Sankt Hans celebration. Furthermore, there is a lot happening with regard to sport, and there is much community in the sports association which have a large presence in the area.

Hjerting Sports Association is popular with a wide selection of activities and boasts 1,250 members. Hjerting Badminton Club, with 250 members, was selected as youth club of the year in 2014.

Hjerting has a hotel, restaurant, bakery as well as a range of services and some industry.

Esbjerg Municipality is divided into seven school districts and a district named city of children.

In Hjerting, you will find:

• Associated after school cares (SFO)
• Youth club

In Guldager and Sædding, near Hjerting, you will find the two private schools:

• Esbjerg International School in Guldager
• Markusskolen in Sædding
