Village in nature worthy of conservation

Spandet retains a special village atmosphere and is situated in beautiful nature with several lakes to the West and North and several smaller areas of forest, drumlins and the downward sloping terrain drops right into the town.

The town consists of a diversity of buildings, which are sufficiently well-mixed as to provide a sense of wholeness. Many of the original farms are located to the South, while there are several detached houses to the North and West, with newer houses to the North and East. The local community also includes the smaller nearby villages of Mølby, Hølleskov and Fjersted.

Community spirit

Spandet is a town where people know each other well, and where many people take part in the town activities. For example, the hobby club and the ring-riding association's annual festival are both well-supported. Many people gather in the meeting house and activity centre in Spandet's old schoolhouse, which has features such as a sports field, tennis court, fitness centre, croquet, table tennis, petanque, billiards, play club, hobby club, woodwork society and pensioners' association.

The activity centre also serves as a meeting place for pensioners from Spandet, Roager, Hørn and Seem. Many people also play golf and others are part of Roager's Kvik70 sports association, which offers football, handball, badminton and gymnastics. Roager and Spandet FDF church scouts are based in Spandet.

Children in Spandet belongs to the district school named Vadehavsskolen in Egebæk-Hviding from 0.-6. grade and to Vittenbergskolen in Ribe from grade 7. There is a school bus service to Egebæk-Hviding and to Ribe. 

In Egebæk-Hviding, you will find:

In Ribe you will find:

• Vittenbergskolen in the southern part of Ribe, with grades from 0.-9. and an associated after school care (SFO).
