Enroll your child in school

Read more about how to enroll your child in one of Esbjerg Municipality's many schools.

Before your child starts at school for the first time, you need to enroll your child. School enrollment is always in January.

To enroll you child, you can use our digital self-service solution. If you do not have access to the digital self-service solution, please contact our Citizen Services.

When you enroll your child in school

Your child will usually be admitted to school in your school district. It is the child's residential address that determines which school district he or she belongs to.

However, you have a free choice of school, which means that if you do not want your child to go to the municipal elementary school in your district, you are free to enroll your child in one outside your school district or in a completely different municipality, provided the school has room.

Here you can see which school in the school district you live closest to. Please write your address in the search box at the top right of the page.

Full and half siblings always have the right to be registered at the same school as the other siblings attend.

If you just moved to Esbjerg Municipality and need to register your child for elementary school enrollment, we kindly ask you to contact the school of your choice where your wish your child to attend.
